Kitty Bios

ArcherThe most recent pictures I have of this guy are when he's eating. He's usually the first one to the food bowl at dinnertime! Archer is a male orange tabby, my favorite all-time kind of cat. He's sweet, but shy around people. He loves to play with his sisters and "hunt" in the backyard. Archer would love living in a home with older children or no children. I think lots of chaos and activity would worry him!

Dax

Dax is a calico with no tail. She is so cute and sweet and playful. She's the first to come rub on your legs for some loving, but also the first to go exploring in the backyard. I think Dax would love living with a family with lots of love and activity.

Janeway

Janeway is a grey and white female. She's so soft and sweet and friendly. She lets my daughter hold her and love on her, and she comes back for more! She would fit perfectly in a loving family with children.

These sweet kittens are free to a good home, but they must be spayed or neutered as soon as they are old enough (about 5 months old). They are 3 months old today (July 25). Their momma was a stray that we rescued when she was very pregnant. The shelters are full of cute kitties -- we don't want to add to this problem. These kittens should not ever be parents!

Outside Play

We've started taking the kittens outside to play a little bit every day. They LOVE it as does my little girl.

Janeway is following Miss Joanna. When she figured it out, she started looking at the kitten through her legs -- very cute.

This is Archer -- looks like he's a giant cat hunting in the jungle... or maybe not. :)
Joanna has become quite good at handling the kittens carefully. She loves them very much!They still love to snuggle together.

This was a different day. My friend Kathy came over with her two boys and we took the kittens and the kiddos outside.

A nice shot of Troi. I keep forgetting to mention that Troi doesn't have a tail. She's such a cute little bob tailed thing! She's also very adventurous... and sweet.

Dax is also so sweet. She looks the most like her Momma. She has really beautiful eyes!

Doesn't he just look ferocious?! He was just meowing, but caught with his mouth open, he looks terrifying, don't you think? :)

Josh, my friend's 2 year old, was very sweet with the kittens. He picked up quickly how to hold them. They loved the attention from the kids.

The kittens were pretty indifferent to Kathy's new 2 month old baby. They at most kind of smelled his little toes.

As the big kids wandered off to play, a few of the kittens got curious and started after them.

It's pretty funny because the kids would keep bringing them back to the blanket, as if that's where they should stay.

There was a small, shallow hole in between the blanket and the stump the kids were playing on that caught the kittens every time!

Archer snuggled up to me and fell asleep -- he was so cuddly!

The most adventuresome ones were Kirk and Troi. Janeway joined in the exploration as well, but Archer and Dax enjoyed snuggling up with us on the blanket. We all had so much fun outside!

Now a sweet shot from last night:They fill up that bed a lot more now! I haven't seen them sleeping in there since they could really control where they go, but they were all snuggled in there together last night when I checked on them before bed. So sweet!

Playing inside

The past few days we've be bringing the kittens inside for a little playtime with Joanna.

Here they are lined up -- they sure love to stick together! From the left: Troi, Janeway, Dax, Kirk, and Archer. It's possible I have the last two mixed up. They're different enough in person, but in pictures they look awfully similar! Kirk has coarser, darker fur and he's a little wider. Archer is a softer color, with softer fur and a softer voice. They've really started to move a lot more, especially Troi -- she's a walker.
Joanna LOVES holding the kittens and is mostly very sweet and careful with them. Often they end up upside down in her arms, but she snuggles their little bottoms, too!

We're enjoying it and I've even developed some favorites, but I am looking forward to them finding nice homes in a few weeks so I can get back to just caring for my human children. :)

I pulled all the kitties out for a little photo shoot in the garage. I'll need to take them outside soon for some better natural light pictures.

A couple of them are looking this way with their eyes open! All the kittens' eyes are open now. They look different like that! The little grey looks ferocious in this picture :) but she's so sweet! I just caught her mid-meow.

Names!

We finally got around to nailing down names for the kittens. We wanted them all to have some kind of theme (Shakespearean names, famous people, poets, etc.). We settled on Star Trek characters! Thanks for the suggestion, Aunt Gail. Those of you who know me are smiling on the inside, I know. Or maybe you're laughing out loud.

First up, the biggest of the bunch. His eyes are already starting to open (as are some of the others), and his cry is the loudest.

Kirk:

This little guy is the same coloring, but smaller with a softer cry.

Archer:
This little girl is the grey calico. Pretty easy going.
Dax:

Here's the grey. Very sweet and quiet.

Janeway:

The darker calico. She was squirmy when we were trying to get the pic -- she settled a little.

The kittens won't be able to be adopted until they're 8 weeks old. (about the end of June) Everyone who adopts one must also agree to have them spayed or neutered when they are 5 months old. Make sure you look into the cost of that -- it is not negotiable!

3 girls and 2 boys... we think

My mom checked underneath their skirts... We know the calicos are girls (always are), and we believe the grey is, too. The oranges we think are little males.

This is my little girl. She's not quite sure about these tiny squeaky things... yet!
